I call this location The Alcove. I set up the tripod between these beautiful, twisted sandstone formations and focused on a third formation where the other two intersect. I used my new 15-stop Breakthrough Photography filter to tame some of the harsh mid-day light, and bring some motion to the scene. And with all the frantic, chaotic line patterns and directions in the sandstone and sky, this shot reminded me, in an abstract way, of the famous Mondrian painting, Broadway Boogie-Woogie. I’m really happy this shot turned out and with the performance of the 15 stop filter!
