I have captured photos of stars above distant thunderstorms before, but I never imagined I would be able to capture the Milky Way above a nearby thunderstorm. This image is hard to wrap my brain around. There is such a juxtaposition between the silky texture of the storm and the almost gritty texture of the sky. On one hand it almost seems like two images, but somehow works as well. Brilliant image with amazing (and lucky) timing!
