I think you ran into a location problem here. Aside from the very strong rim lighting, you don't really any light that's defining her features. Maybe a different location and a reflector would help in the future.
Another thing you can do is to try to find a location that's going to do a good job naturally bouncing sunlight. But yeah... if your rim light is your strongest light, it's generally not a good thing outside of a few circumstances.
Agree with Michael, I'd add that the way the model is looking away makes her look distracted, but she appears to be posing for the camera, so it's kind of confusing to the viewer.
I see what you both are saying. I took this with no experience using off camera lighting. All I had was a speed light on a lightstand and no diffuser. At the time I couldn't figure out the best way to get some soft light on her and keep that sunlight coming through her hair. As far as not looking at the camera, that was done purposefully. I was trying to go for a "perfume ad" kind of look. I guess I missed the mark lol! Still pretty proud of this image though. Thanks for the feedback!
