The Pinnacles - Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia
This really was the result of planning and preparation. I scouted this location out initially with PhotoPills and Google Earth to make sure I could time the sunset to be in the best orientation and then set up a while before the sun was due to set to make sure I had the spot sorted.
I then waited for the sun to be right on the edge of the rocks and waited for a big wave to crash through to kick up some extra seaspray for illumination.
I stopped down my aperture to F16 to make sure I could get a nice little sunburst and shot a bracket of 3 exposures for blending.
Shot Notes:
Canon 5D Mark III with a Tamron 24-70mm F2.8 VC G2
ISO 50 | f/16 | 8" | 24mm
I used a 4-Stop Formatt-Hitech Firecrest ND Filter and blended 3 exposures to create this.
