Submit Your Best "Moody" Image

Inspired by Renaissance paintings I wanted to merge my love of vintage photos and bold colors and combined them into one.

I shot this with a 36inch gridded Softbox as the main light source high above subject and used a shoot through umbrella as a rim light on the opposite side of the main light that was used as soft rim light to highlight under her cheek and jaw and for a little background separation by highlighting the right side of her body.

During the renaissance era if you look at paintings no one would be smiling because it took so long to paint their portraits and I wanted to reflect that same expressions found in those paintings in my image.
