After a long day of hammering and climbing new routes up unclimbed walls my partner, Dakota, sat by the fire for warmth and morale. The next morning he would have to rack up and find a new path up an unclimbed desert tower in the eastern Utah desert.
Knowing that he would be met with many objective hazards, including his own fear, I asked him to sit quietly and think about all of the things he would have to do in order to be successful while I captured this portrait of him.
