Hope it's not flash as a catchlight.
Curious, why couldn't it be?
Eye-doctors say that flash can permanently damage sight of kids below 2 yo. So they advise against using it with small kids. Hot light is better option in that case. I've seen my local (pro) photographers do not use flash while shooting kids.
Heheh, there are alot of arguments about this and "doctors say" also that it really has no significant impact on the eyes if the flash is diffused/bounced and not pointing directly at the eyes. But yeah you are right, of course constant light would be better because it wouldn't scare the baby (might happen with flash). I'll work on filling my gear with some constant lights next. :)
