3.21 - "Solid"

After having seen one episode of Elia Locardi’s “Moments in Time” series on Youtube, I knew exactly that I got to visit the Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur once I get to Malaysia. I eventually got there back in 2022 and tried to replicate what Elia did at the Sky Bar, including use of that tiny table-top tripod placed on the outer window sill. Everything was going fine except of the weather, which wasn’t entirely bad – little bit of colors in the sky during the sunset with one interesting shaped cloud – but was not anything extraordinary either. So I got a shot that made me kind of happy. But my journey did not end there and 2 years later (in June 2024) I revisited Malaysia which in the meantime has become one of my favorite countries to visit. Staying again at the Traders Hotel for a couple of nights, I impatiently watched the sky every afternoon in an anticipation of an epic sunset. Most of the time, the afternoons were overcast if not rainy. And then it came. The last evening at the hotel even if the weather forecast was telling me the opposite (rain) I felt that tingling feeling whenever I was looking at the sky which was showing a gap under a layer of clouds. I knew that this time I got to make it and get the shot. As the sunset time was closing and the situation in the sky was only getting better, I packed my camera and a wide angle lens (Nikon Z8 + 14-30/4), not to forget that tiny Manfrotto tripod, and ran to the Sky Bar…. And the rest you can see in the picture.
