In 2018, the Norwich University Women's Hockey Team captured the 2018 NCAA DIII national championship. As a part of the celebration of the NU ladies, a dominate force in college hockey at both the local, regional and national level, the team was invited to Fenway Park to throw out the first pitch in a Boston Red Sox game. As the announcer was telling the crowd why the ladies were there for the first pitch, just before the team walked to the pitcher's mound, goalie Katie Bishop-Manning stepped out from the group and held the national trophy above her head to the delight of the cheering crowd.
