Title: "Varanasi – Through My Eyes"
Holi with pyre ashes!
Captured during the vibrant Masaan Ki Holi festival in Varanasi, which reflects the intensity and devotion of a performer embodying a divine presence. The subject, adorned as Goddess Parvati, is momentarily engaged in a quiet yet piercing gaze amid the chaos of rushing photographers and onlookers.
Shot on a Sony Alpha A68 SLR, the image composition intentionally uses the blurred foreground of an observer to create a sense of immersion—bringing the viewer into the unfolding moment.
The post-processing involved converting the image to black and white to enhance the contrast between intricate facial expressions, elaborate attire, and the fleeting interaction of human and divine.
Challenges faced: The atmosphere was dynamic and crowded. With multiple photographers moving rapidly, I wanted to capture the moments that got the subjects engaged during the procession. Devine and vanity in a frame.
This image is more than just a portrait; it encapsulates the profound blend of mythology and modern-day festivity that makes Masaan Ki Holi a unique spiritual experience.
Currently, i use iPhone pro camera or a NIKON D5600 that i borrow from a friend.
