It was the Summer of 2010. I was visiting a friend that I've known since high school. His name is Vince and he's here with his son, River. We were at Marina Del Rey Beach in Southern California. We had been playing in sand, swimming, and enjoying the sun all day.

This photo was taken near sunset. River was tired. The wind was blowing. Vince stood ankle deep in water looking at boats on the horizon holding River in a gentle embrace.

I took this photo using a Fuji X100. I love this camera. It's small and unassuming and people let their guard down when I use it. I took the photo in color but processed in B&W in Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro.

The following Christmas, I made an inkjet print and framed it and sent it to Vince and River. Taking great photos is difficult enough. Using those photos to make lasting memories is what photography is about.
