I call this portrait "The Intense Man."
It was made as part of a photo shoot I did for a business magazine, featuring this financial services firm and its founder.
As we went through the traditional editorial photo spots and shots, at the very end of the photo shoot we talked a bit more about how his company came about and I asked him, "How would you describe yourself in one or a few words?" and he answered "Intense."
So, I made this portrait of him.
Intense and in your face.
It was not made for the magazine's use and was never intended for its use, but a personality portrait made by and between him and me.
I used a Hasselblad H5D and 120mm lens. It's lit with a Profoto strobe key light from camera left and another one from behind, lighting up a translucent modifier (to create the pure white background and the rim light raking his face on the camera right side).
