Living in Southwest Florida, we have abundant opportunity to escape into preserves, enjoy nature, and photograph wildlife. After a walk in the preserve in our community, we were walking back to our house and were surprised to see this beautiful Sandhill Crane hanging out near the hustle and bustle of our community activities area. I very gradually approached it, staying low until I was in a good position to photograph this beautiful visitor. "Using an Olympus EM-1 mk ii with a 12-100 mm lens, this photograph was captured at 100 mm (200 mm effective focal length) at f4 and 1/800 sec ISO 200. By blurring the background, I was able to eliminate the busy background.

The mosaic of red, yellows, and shades in between remind me how subtle nature's colorations can be.
