This is my first Bird in Flight photo ever! I was on one of my regular walks, when I spotted a Red-Wing Blackbird in some tall grass, just a few meters from the path (~10'). I started taking photos, and had my continuous focus and tracking on when it took flight. I was at 1/1600s which was apparently enough to freeze the moment of flight, and still perfectly measured to catch the motion blur of the wing. I was at 285mm (on Sony 100-400mm) and f5.6, so considering how close the bird was , and how far the background is, the bokeh was super smooth for perfect separation of the subject.
Sony a7r3, ISO3200.

Wow. This was your first? Amazing. This just might win the contest

Thanks, Mark! Yeah, surprisingly! LOL!
I like to prepare, and was ready for the situation, but it was pure luck catching this moment.

I think you’re being modest. I don’t believe in luck. Luck is you’ve prepared 99% and then you walked around the corner and there was the unicorn.
