I spent my winter solstice photographing an endangered species in my area. After hiking under the moonlight, I stumbled upon this beautiful tree at sunrise. The Alberta Limber Pine is a long lived species, with the oldest known in my area being about 3000 years old. They are an important keystone for the ecology, but they also offer wind swept beauty to the landscape.

I have a video photographing this tree on my youtube channel @ thetraveljack
