Title: The Last of Their Kind
Captured at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, this photograph documents a rare and deeply significant moment in wildlife history. Ol Pejeta is home to one of the highest concentrations of rhinos in the world and serves as the final sanctuary for the last two remaining Northern White Rhinoceros on Earth named, Najin and her daughter Fatu.
In this image, both rhinos are peacefully grazing, naturally aligned within the frame to create a simple yet powerful composition. Their massive forms move slowly through the savannah grass, their bodies covered with dried mud, a natural coating that acts as sunscreen and helps regulate their body temperature in the intense African heat.
Photographed using a Canon EOS 80D with a Sigma 150–600mm Contemporary lens, Beyond its composition, the photograph carries profound weight: it portrays the final living representatives of a subspecies pushed to the brink of extinction, quietly continuing their daily lives under careful protection and conservation. It is both a portrait of survival and a reminder of the fragile future of wildlife.
