"Off To Work We Go!"

This image consists of two photos, the background is a photo I took on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina in 2011, Nikon D300, Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6. The second photo is a pin and ink drawing of Leaf Cutter Ants walking on a dead tree branch I made on wettable acetate film. The finished drawing was placed on a light box. I gathered leaves and cut them to look like they were cut by the ants. I arranged them on the drawing to look like the ants were carrying them. I photographed the setup with a Nikon F? with Nikon 105mm f2.8 macro, in the 1980’s. Composited in Photoshop, 2026.

Over the years I’ve used the ant photo with several different backgrounds. This was one of my best selling stock images back when you could make a decent living with stock photography.
