The image is the result of stitching 3x2 infrared images taken with a full spectrum Samsung NX1100 equipped with a 680nm infrared filter. The image was then post produced with the common channel swapping technique and cropped in a 3:2 aspect ratio, resulting in a 9000x6000px image.
Large prints demand high-frequency detail to remain interesting up close: the intricate, "elephant skin" organic texture of the large tree trunk in the foreground, the crisp lines of the shutters and the classic wrought-iron lamp post provide enough details to keep the interest of the viewer engaged. The image uses a "layered" approach which works exceptionally well at scale: the lamp post on the left and the bench on the right create a "gateway" for the viewer’s eye; the central building and the glowing foliage provide the main subject;the soft, rolling hills in the distance add a sense of vastness.
There is a profound sense of quietude. The absence of people, combined with the warm, glowing light, makes the scene feel like a frozen moment in time. In a home or office setting, a large print of this would act as a "visual anchor"—something that calms the environment rather than cluttering it.
