When driving in the country or on long road trips, I am constantly composing shots in my mind. I used to regret passing a particular scene I may never see again or passing through extraordinary light without stopping to take a shot. But now I drive with my camera ready to go in the passenger seat.
I came across this scene while driving north on I5 outside of Sacramento. It was early morning and the fog was extremely dense. I looked to my right and saw a marshy area and the fog was breaking up a bit, casting a golden hue across a field. I pulled over to take a few shots when a bird landed on the barbed wire fence. I moved over a few feet to position the bird over the sunʻs reflection. It all happened in a matter of seconds; the bird flew away, the dense fog rolled back in and the scene was gone.
