I shot this Waterbuck in Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe last year.
I used my Sony A7IV paired with the Sony 200-600m @600mm. Settings were ISO 1000, f/6.3, 1/500.
My goal was to capture several close-up portraits of several animals. It was definetely challenging to get close to a Waterbuck and ensure a clean background and good lighting, but after several days of trying, I finally managed to capture this one on my last day as I was leaving the park.
I had to get out of the car and hide between the trees as I tried to get as close as possible.
Mana Pools is one of the few parks that allow you to walk out of the car. Lighting can also be very harsh in the summer days.
Although it's slightly backlit, I think it still stands out and would be happy to hang this picture. I've yet to print anything so this could be a good candidate.
