Getting clean backgrounds for Games photography is always hugely important so scouting around the aquatics centre for dark or black backgrounds often produces great results. In Paris there was a tiny sliver of black against a far corner that if positioned carefully enough, you could frame the action. Apart from adding contrast, cropping and lowering the black levels a bit to further darken the background, the image was otherwise straight out of camera.
