I took this photograph on the ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, Long Island. The port area and adjacent shore have industrial buildings and factories which make for interesting compositions.

For this particular shot, I liked the bright red against the perfectly clear blue sky and wanted to make the stacks stand out and look isolated to allow your imagination to decide what building they were attached to. I used the railing on the ferry in the foreground to create the cloud-like effect you see in at the bottom of the image to shield the viewer from seeing the whole scene.

This image was shot on my Canon R6Mii and my 100-400mm.
