Shooting a total solar eclipse was a bucket list shot for me. When I was planning how I wanted to photograph the 2024 eclipse (living in the path of totality, I knew I had to something epic) along with shooting on digital, I wanted to capture it on film. But more importantly, I wanted to shoot medium format (120) film. Using my Mamiya RB67, I planned to capture a sequence of the eclipse from first contact (C1) all the way to totality.

This shot is a sequence of 16 shots taken during the eclipse, each shot 5 minutes apart, all on ONE single frame of Kodak Portra 160.
This is NOT a composite made in Photoshop, this was all done in-camera on ONE frame of film.

I metered through my solar filter and just hoped that what I was doing was correct, I had one shot for this. And I wouldn't know if it turned out until I developed the film. What were my settings? I do not recall. I was so stressed and nervous that day I didn’t write anything down. I also setup a Canon R5 with a 100-500mm lens on an equatorial tracking head that captured some EPIC shots.
