About the photo:
I accept myself as I am: completely hairy on the left and completely hairless on the right. I embrace myself.
The photograph is a powerful allegory for self-acceptance and the integration of opposing sides within one person. The physical contrast between hairiness and hairlessness is visually emphasised, yet the emotional bond between the two “figures” — their tenderness and embrace — shows that they belong to one and the same entity. The smiling, joyful expression of the figure on the right reinforces this positive, embracing attitude. The dark background isolates the characters and focuses all attention on their connection. The photograph tells a story about bringing together, and making peace with, every aspect of oneself. It is a celebration of human complexity and a plea for compassion towards all facets of one’s own being. The artistic and aesthetic composition, with its contrast between darkness and light, heightens the image’s emotional impact.

This is the second picture of my project Theatre of (Dis)Comfort and Growth:
Excessive body hair has been part of my life since childhood. It led to bullying, shame, and an inferiority complex that turned into depression. My body became something to hide.
