During my period of depression, I had another argument with my parents. I placed a knife against my wrist, which became the crucial moment. All kinds of thoughts went through my mind: flashbacks, as well as flashforwards of memories that had yet to happen; a friend who had died by suicide, but above all, friends who were still alive. This was the moment when I had to make choices...
I chose to live by expressing myself through pen and paper. That is why, in the photo, you see my hand reaching for the pen rather than the knife. Here, I choose to be a clown because I often played the clown despite my depression. What mask do you wear as you go through life? Who are you in that moment? How do people see you? How do you see yourself? I also have a sense of self-mockery, hence the little combs.
This is the last picture (in total there are seven pictures) of Theatre of (Dis)comfort and Growth.
