At IBC 2024 in Amsterdam, Blackmagic Design announced the pricing and availability of the Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65, a new large format digital film camera. With a 65mm RGBW sensor and the ability to capture footage in resolutions up to 17K, the camera is aimed at high-end productions, promising exceptional image quality and workflow integration.

The Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 introduces a 17,520 x 8,040 pixel sensor with 16 stops of dynamic range, providing impressive color accuracy and detail in both highlights and shadows. It features interchangeable lens mounts, including PL, LPL, and Hasselblad, and supports a wide range of connections, making it versatile for various production setups.

This seems like a very niche product. Can’t imagine how big 17K large format files will be. Will audiences really be able to see the difference?

17k I don't even have a 4k T.V. I bet that file size huge and hard to download. I'm checking YouTube.
