Sony has announced the FE 100mm f/2.8 Macro GM OSS, a new medium-telephoto macro lens for its full frame E-mount system. Positioned within the company’s high-end G Master lineup, the lens is built to deliver sharp rendering with smooth bokeh, advanced macro-specific controls, and enhanced autofocus performance.

Sony highlights the lens’s ability to go beyond traditional 1:1 reproduction, offering up to 1.4x magnification natively and up to 2.8x when paired with optional teleconverters. The design emphasizes both stills and video applications, with stabilization tuned for macro shooting and handling features aimed at fast, precise control.

The FE 100mm f/2.8 Macro GM OSS expands creative options for anyone working in close-up photography, product work, and nature detail shots, thanks to its 1.4x native magnification and teleconverter compatibility. Portrait and wedding photographers may also find it appealing: the lens offers creamy background rendering characteristic of the G Master series while keeping the sharpness needed for high-resolution sensors.

For video shooters, the quiet linear motors, stabilized optics, and full-time manual focus override add flexibility for macro storytelling, while the aperture ring provides tactile control for exposure adjustments.

The FE 100mm f/2.8 Macro GM OSS slots neatly into Sony's professional E-mount system, offering a combination of macro specialization, fast autofocus, and premium build. At $1,499.99, it enters the market as a high-end but versatile tool for creators looking to expand beyond traditional macro into more general telephoto applications.
