Nikon cameras and lenses do not always grab headlines for the extremes of design that the likes of Canon and Sony do, but they are the tool of choice for many professionals for many reasons. This interesting video essay features an experienced landscape photographer discussing why he has stuck with the brand for two decades for his work.
Coming to you from Nigel Danson, this video essay discusses why he has chosen to work with Nikon cameras for the past 20 years. While Canon and Sony often get a fair amount of attention for things like extremely wide-aperture lenses or 50-megapixel cameras that can shoot 30 fps, Nikon often takes a more measured approach, choosing to produce practical workhorse cameras and lenses. Pair that with their highly regarded sensors, and it is easy to see why they are the tools of choice for photographers who care less about working at the very bleeding edge of tech and more about having reliable tools that get the job done without much fuss. Check out the video above for Danson's full thoughts.

It's a nice video. His reasoning for sticking with Nikon is a valid and good one. I have been with Nikon for over 50 years. Sure, I do have other brands, big name ones, but when I first discovered Nikon and the bright viewfinder, I was hooked. After investing in a system and getting well acquainted with it, why switch? Unless there's something drastically wrong with it or you just don't feel comfortable with it. Everything you can do with the system you use now is the same with most other ones, so if you like what you have and it's putting out the quality of images you want, stay with it. But...there's always a but, if you switch then you know the reasons why you are. I personally have had great success and fulfillment with my choice.
