Playing with harsh light down at the pond... National Turtle Day!

Went out this morning and got a few turtle shots; the lighting was harsh, and otherwise avoided by most photographers... In these cases I feel it adds to the atmosphere and conditions the turtles live in on these bright days.

This in mind, highlights and colors are really strong in these images; they are meant to "pop" in this way. I did make sure they didn't clip, but who knows after compression and uploading, they could now clip again.. heh.. I included the fishing bobber as I loved the colors.

Basic edits but also increased shadows and, surprisingly, lowered colors (Believe it or not), The shot with the turtle in the water, I removed a stick that was distracting. All Bokeh is real. Green casting in a few shots was caused by shooting thru foreground foliage to add atmosphere.

Taken with a Nikon Z6 with Nikkor 200-500mm Lens.

Nice work.. For me the second image is really a great capture. Keep them coming..

The second one is rather striking. He's got to be standing on something that is just under the water, it is fairly deep here.

Just noticed, it's National Turtle Day. :)

Ha! That's awesome! In honor of National Turtle Day, I'll share my favorite Turtle shot.

Austin, Texas Blue Hour

Was down in Austin for a bit on a work trip. I've always heard how beautiful the skyline is from the river.

Was a little let down by the clouds, but what can I do!

Two from Tenerife

My two favourite images from my recent night time adventure in Tenerife. Foregrounds and skies were shot separately and blended in PS.

Any interest in this group?

Hi all, I was looking for such a group but see that although there are many members there hasn’t been a single post. Is there interest out there in getting this group going?
