Winter

I usually do not like photos with the subject centered but this one works. The reason that I like this photo is because it tells a story. It's cold, bleak and wintery but in the center of the story is life. Maybe. This makes you think, is the plant still alive? Will it survive? It's a photo of hope. A single stalk wouldn't work either. Is the smaller one another branch or is it another plant? Also you can also imagine little green leafs sprouting all up and down the stalk in the spring.

(Yes, there is a little part of another stalk at the top.)

This is a cool shot. It is hard to get clear texture on snow but you nailed it. Unfortunately snow shots always look drab on fStoppers because if the bright white of the page. I suggest opening them to get a better view. I know you mentioned that you usually don't center subject but like it here. I am of like mind but think that there is a chance that an off centered composition might be better? Either way, great job capturing snow!! Looking forward to more.

Thanks. I had to manipulate it because it was taken on a heavily overcast day. Plus, it was taken with an inexpensive point and shoot. I tried and no, it just doesn't work off center.

Austin, Texas Blue Hour

Was down in Austin for a bit on a work trip. I've always heard how beautiful the skyline is from the river.

Was a little let down by the clouds, but what can I do!

Two from Tenerife

My two favourite images from my recent night time adventure in Tenerife. Foregrounds and skies were shot separately and blended in PS.

Any interest in this group?

Hi all, I was looking for such a group but see that although there are many members there hasn’t been a single post. Is there interest out there in getting this group going?
