My first posting of a minimalist photo. Taken early morning. The far shore of the lake is not visible due to the fog. The island is about 60 meters offshore.
Hi Stephen, great first attempt. I like the way the fog has isolated the island and created the minimal vibe.
I would suggest a couple of things for you to try (these are to suit my personal taste so please experiment, and follow your own path);
- crop 10% from the bottom. Both island and reflection present a large visual mass. I feel by cropping off some of the reflection the balance in the image would be improved.
- add atmosphere. You mention fog but the island looks crystal clear. I am unsure how you processed but if in Lightroom readjusting the dehaze slider should help bring back the foggy mood.
This is a wonderful minimalist image as-is, but I think the small tweaks may elevate further.
Hi Stephen! Nicely done. This is really lovely. Interestingly, like Alan I was thinking it needed a slight crop change BUT i was thinking in the other direction. I was wondering, if you have more below in the original. about keeping more of the reflection so that it is entirely present. Now the split is on!
Nice one Ruth.
I love the way this group offers differing viewpoints and suggestions the artist can try. Such suggestions have helped me greatly in the past.
Thanks Ruth for your feedback. I have adjusted the cropping. I am not sure whether to keep the reeds sticking out of the water. I have recently got back into photography after many years. My first job was working in systems engineering at Eastman Kodak.

Thank you Alan for your feedback. Here is a revised photo. This is pretty much as shot with cropping

I hope Stephen posts edits for review.

I definitely like this crop the best but if you can lose the reeds, I think it would be a 5 star!! Nicely done!
