Austin, Texas Blue Hour
Was down in Austin for a bit on a work trip. I've always heard how beautiful the skyline is from the river.
Was a little let down by the clouds, but what can I do!
Two from Tenerife
My two favourite images from my recent night time adventure in Tenerife. Foregrounds and skies were shot separately and blended in PS.
Any interest in this group?
Hi all, I was looking for such a group but see that although there are many members there hasn’t been a single post. Is there interest out there in getting this group going?

I like it... It's very light and airy, I can almost feel the breeze blowing thru the scene. The sky gradient balances the darkness of the trunk nicely.
Thanks Joe, your comments are always appreciated.
Alright Alan, you've done it again. It's a beautiful image with a good balance of colors. The composition is good as well. However, I think it could have benefitted from a bit more clarity on the tree itself. The trunk is what draws all of my attention, mostly because it appears to be in focus and still. I know how you tend to blur the edges of the subject, and I think that works well here, but the center of the tree is exactly the same.
How perceptive of you Matthew. The 'blurred edges' are actually the result of blending multiple images (20+ in this example) taken from slightly differing angles.
The area I believe you are referring to is one I where I had to perform remedial work, and lost some of that layering as a result.
I have added back layers and uploaded a second image for review. The change is pretty subtle, but now that area is more aligned with the rest of the image.
I'd be interest if you/others still feel the trunk could do with more clarity.
Thanks for pointing out the anomaly.
I knew the way you do your work, and that tends to make them look blurry. I finally got a photo editor that allows for layer work, and one of these days I'll try out your method. You mentioned the subtle change, but I must confess an inability to discern which one is which. I do notice the second image has a lighter trunk, which I think works for it; it is less of something that draws my eye. I really like this image, especially the second one.
yeah Matthew, the change is very subtle so I'm not surprised (I see is as I know where to look....).
You should definitely try the technique - it is a lot of fun seeing how the image builds in post.
There are details throughout my website (blog/projects etc) on my own journey that you may find helpful, and of course you can always drop me a DM if you have questions.
