More fun at the beach

As I sit here amidst a heavy rainstorm, I thought I'd add some more pics I took at the beach recently.

All these were taken handheld at 1/4 sec, and pushed in different ways. As I often do, I'll likely revisit over time and make further adjustments, but would like to know how these appeal to members as-is.

Do any appeal? All feedback (positive or negative) is gratefully received.

Hey Alan, I love your 'people on the beach' work. A long time ago you posted one with a couple walking away down the beach in black and white that I remember still - it is so lovely. These are fun as well. I particularly like number 5 and 7. For number 5, I love the impression that the couple is moving very fast yet they look so relaxed. My favorite is number 7 though. I'd love to know what these ladies are talking about. There is story here. Love it. :)

Thanks Ruth. For #5 &#7 I intentionally composed the image to capture figures walking in opposite directions. Done so panning on the primary to capture the relative change in motion.
I'm not one for sitting on a beach for long periods (or anywhere else for that matter), so this give me a chance to have some fun while the family relaxes.

Smart man! I really enjoy these!

#1 Is super appealing and sweet. I love the colors. What do you think about a little more of the image extending on the right to give more of a feeling of movement to somewhere?

As I've mentioned before with this technique, I have to go with #5 and #7 because of the feel of the subject moving along with the background motion. When the subject isn't moving, it feels more like a blurred photo mistake to me. Like Ruth, I really like #7. It captures the timeless sisterhood of women. In #5 you captured a kind of interesting feeling of the couple moving right while the background motion feels it's moving left - i.e. the subject is going against the flow.

All the photos are beautiful, Alan. You always do great work; and inspire me.

Thanks Jennifer, I love it when folks give me ideas, and thanks for your kind appraisal.
I have 'added' just a little more room to the right of the image as suggested. Does that fit your taste more?

As an update, I have just added a blog entry on my site which includes details and other images. Let me know if you find useful, or see any great errors;

Enjoyed your blog post, I liked the additional photos. The b&w one with the man holding hands with the children really appealed to me as well as the surfer shot in the center of the set. The explanation was well done also.

Thanks for checking it out Jennifer. I'm happy you like the man/children image as that has a special appeal to me also.
