Alan Brown's picture

Scene from above

In looking through my files I came across some of these older images that apply to this month's theme. They may have been presented in the past, so I apologize in advance if you have already seen these.

All were taken from the top of a parking garage, with a focus on the shadows created by a low sun.

Comment as you see fit, especially if you have a favorite as I always love to hear the views of others.

Cool ! the first one seems to be crossing a bridge.. I like it.

Thaks Ian. Believe it or not that was my thought when I first saw the shadow and attempted to compose shots with that in mind.

My Order.
Image 2 : For some uniqueness. breaking some rules and yet is dynamic enough to provide some interest leading the vision through colour.

image 3 : Quickly refined it for my perception of some ease in space.

Image 1: For some reason wanted to see the rigidity of grid and thus the interest, en element is breaking it.

Thanks Vijay. I like your edits and will likely revisit #1 & #3.

Thanks for providing a fresh set of eyes.

I love 1 and 3, but I think that's mostly because I'm more of an ordered person. Both provide the order that attracts my attention. I do agree with Vijay on number 1 - aligning things more vertically is more appealing. 2 seems a bit too much going on. Did you go there with the intention of capturing these or did they just sort of happen? You couldn't have asked for a more perfect composition than in number 3!

Thanks Jennifer. I like #2 for the interaction between the subject and the pointing finger in the mural but see your point.

The shots were not planned, but I had scouted the location previously.
After parking at the top of a downtown parking garage I went to the edge to check out below and was attracted by the shadows.

Then it was simply a matter of waiting for opportunities to walk by.

Well, #3 nailed it perfectly. The more I look at it, the more I am seeing so many details. It is contest worthy.

The third is a killer, Alan! The others are fine; I agree with Vijay and Jennifer's observations, but the third just leaves the others in the dust, I'm afraid!

Hey, thanks Chris.
So glad to see you back here commenting. I'm hoping things are going well and you're able to get out and enjoy the autumn scenes down there.
