Down on the waterfront this morning, tide was out, Heron were sitting along the water fishing. There was a boat coming across the water from Bremerton heading into Port Orchard.

It comes from flash fall off. The more your exposure settings are dependent on the flash and the more distance between subject and background the darker it gets.
