Hello all. This is my first post, and my indeed she is my muse. My daughter recently turned 3, and this was taken at a festival last weekend. I am a complete newbie to photography, but have spent the last 2 years trying to learn all I could. I am ready to start gaining the experience to take my hobby to the next level. Great start. Watching videos and reading how-to's can only take you so far. Just do it!
Very nice shot. I think the triangular composition works, and with her looking into the frame, it asks the question, what caught her attention. The busy background has been nicely rendered into an interesting soft mush.
Cutting off her right arm I don’t think matters, but do watch eye position as sometimes having, as in this case, lots of eye white, it can make a portrait look a bit awkward. The question is why black and white?
Thanks for the comments. I think B & W just because the look said black and white to me. The dress is a Christmas dress and I didn't want it to look like just a girl going to see Santa.... I though more emotion with black and white. Again, thanks for the feedback!
