First attempt of headshot using the new Tamron SP 85mm !

Hi everyone !

Here is a first attempt of headshot with the new Tamron SP 85mm, with my baby girl Charlotte, 7 yrs ! Can't tell how much I appreciate that lense, it's smooth, fast, and gives a ton of details even at full aperture, even on an old camera as my 5D Mark II !

So, simple light use here, just two square boxes (66x66cm) on my Elinchrom D-Lite RX4, triggered with an EL Skyport Transmitter Plus HS to reach 1/5000th and the full aperture, and give that smooth bokeh and out of focus skin, I'm a deep fan of simple lights ^^

I hope you guys will like it, comments are welcome and really appreciated !

no critiques for this, I honestly appreciate the fact that everything is simple with the lighting. Keep up the good work!

Beautiful one Anthony. :)
Well managed the lighting and overall mood.
To nitpick i feel model is straining her neck in the current pose. :)

Yes, kinda, I've had the same thought after publishing this one ! Loved the mood and softness, so I kept it, but I totally agree with you about the neck twisting ;)

beautiful! Have you ever tried the canon 85mm L? I am just curious because I really want to buy the lens but this photo is great and I had a Tamron lens I really liked in the past. Thanks!

Hi Natalia ! Once only, it's a beautiful lense, way above the others, but the price is ALSO above the others, so it's much a question of budget and not only a choice here. The Canon L is f/1.2, the others are 1.8, 1.4 for a few, I find the Tamron really effective, and more efficient than the 1.8 Canon to compare both. I've used the 1.8 Canon a couple years, and it's not flawless, the Tamron version is a thrill, I've used it today on an edito, and after a quick editing in Capture One, I can't see any flaw on my images ;)

nice!!!! have you had any issues with the lens quality? I might have to give it a try...

With the Canon one ? A few, like the AF that struggles in the low light areas and a few purple on the edges, but not any flaw with the Tamron version !
