Hi guys
Another photo from one of my tours in Africa. I took the photo from a wooden boat on Lake Tanganyika in west Tanzania. This was the beginning of an 20 hour long journey on the lake with the final destination to be Mahale Mountains National Park.
I was intrigued by the sunlight among the palm trees on the shore and the silhouette of the boat on the lake. I know there's a lot of orange in this photo from the sun, I do apologies :-)
There is nothing about this photogrpah that deserves an apolgy or excuse. It is very very nice, evocative of such a location I am sure. Very pro quality image.
Thanks for the lovely comment Ian!
Love it Mikkel! One point to consider is removal of the lone tall radio antena(?)...once I saw it I keep going back to it.
Thank you Michael! I know, usually I don't manipulate my photos - but it would benefit this composition if it was removed. It's funny, you can't be more remote in Tanzania and of course suddenly a mobile antenna shows up :)
Nice picture mikkel .. i wish the sun was a little small .. if that was possible .. :)
Thanks Yogesh! In this case during the sunrise and the strong light I would have to focus on the sun to make it small, and that would make the rest of the lower part of the image dark, water, shore and land would not be as it is now :)
But yes, the sun is quite big in this photo.
Great shot! love the colour and the haze it the trees.
I do think the antenna is a slight distraction too so would probably remove it if the photo isn't intended for journalism or competition.
Thanks Robert for the kind words! Can you remove objects in Lightroom like the antenna or would I have to do it in Photoshop?
I did never really consider this image for competitions, but it sounds like it would have a chance :) Do you have any knowledge about having your photos used for journalism, it sounds interesting and a great way to promote your self.
Unfortunately with the increase of "smartphone journalism" - other than a very few - journalism is neither good for self promotion or your bank balance...
You can easily remove the antenna in lightroom using your spot retouch brush but some competitions don't allow removal of objects so if you do want to submit it somewhere check before you do.
Thanks Robert. Well, I'll stay away from journalism then :)
Ah okay, I know about the brush but i have not used it that much yet for removal of objects. I'll look in to that, thanks!
