Waiting for the sun to come up when the temperature is hovering around the -21 degree mark can be a little on the uncomfortable side, but when it looks like this, it's well worth it. This shot was taken at Presqu'ile Provincial Park in Brighton Ontario on a frigid morning. The only sound you could hear besides the birds was the ice cracking and heaving over Presqu'ile Bay. I had already lost the feeling in my fingertips when I took this picture.
I love the colors in this image, and how large the sun is. The image feels very warm to me, despite how cold it was (I've also shot in -20F weather, and it is BRUTAL!). If you'd wanted to express the cold, I wonder if you could've got more fog and/or ice and/or more blue tones in the image.
I find the detail in the water a little distracting, and it *seems* like the trees and structures on the horizon are out of focus. I might also clone out the three structures.
Props for getting out there on such a cold morning and shooting!
