What do you think about color key photos?

Hey guys
I was wondering what you think about color key photos (I guess that's how you call them) like the one I attached. I'm not really into it but for this specific shot I thought it was pretty nice. Would be nice to hear your thoughts about it.

I think that for certain subjects it works well. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the technique. For the photo you included, I may have only had color on the tower, not the cables or road, but that's a personal choice.

Have Fun,
Jeff

Thanks for your input Jeff! I'm might try out how it looks like when I color in only the tower.

As Jeff said, works for certain shots and think it works for yours.

Otherwise known as selective color. I'm not a big fan; it's gimmicky. Would like to see your picture in all color.

Yeah I definitely understand what you mean. Most often I dont like it either. I took this picture back in 2012 while I was starting of with photography and I thought it looked amazing ;-)
I have to see if I can find the original file somewhere. If so, I will share it here. But I can say, that it looked pretty boring and not really interesting as the sky was super flat.

I think we all go through these phases. I recall I dabbled in HDR during the HDR craze.

I was thinking that if the file was large enough to sacrifice a big chunk, this might work better as a portrait orientation.

It was en vogue a decade ago.

Good for postcards. Period. Worth a try once.
