New to FStoppers - introduction and a few photos

Hi folks, I'm new on Fstoppers so thought I'd just do a quick introduction and share some photos.

I've been doing landscapes for over 10 years as a keen amateur and specialise in photographing forests and mountains - mainly in the Scottish Highlands where I live, and occasionally in Scandinavia when I can afford it!

Would love to receive any thoughts and remarks about my photography, and connect with other photographers. I've added a bunch of stuff to my portfolio and here are a few examples of the type of shot I enjoy creating. Hope you all like trees ;)

Peace out

D

Obviously, you have your own work and way to photograph landscapes, or some détails. The subject is the très but seen into a natural context. I do appreciate your work even though i prefer unsaturated photographies leading to a scretch view of landscape.

Thanks a lot David :)

I love these photos. The only one that troubles me is the first one with the tree in the middle. The third and fourth do also but those have other elements ie third sun rays and the fourth sunlight and interesting line of the mountain. Beautiful images

Thanks Lorretta, always interesting to hear what others think!

Great pics David. This poem springs to mind.

Trees
By Joyce Kilmer

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

I am glad you are on Fstoppers.

Cheers Geoff yes that's one of my favourites too :)

I really like how you focus on one simple subject rather than a vast landscape.

I like all of these, especially number 3.

It could just be some kind of file compression from the upload, but for the last one, the tree and foreground seem out of focus. Did you use manual focus?

Overall, great work!

Hmm I see what you mean. Not sure, will have to check the original. It could well be back focused now I look at it.

Awesome work. All are incredible. These shots remind me that I don't have to have a beautiful sweeping landscape to get a good shot!

Thanks a lot Nathan, much appreciated :)
