Yn24 Macro Flash

Here are a couple of shots taken with the 80D, EF-S 60mm and the cheap YN24-EX twin flash. I used to have the Canon twin flash but when it dies it was just too expensive to replace when the YN was 1/10th the price. So far it seems just as good.

As for the shots, these bees were taken at the same location a couple of weeks apart. They are single frames shot handheld. The bees are wild, live insects which is the only way to shoot for me. The second bee is waving its leg at me to warn me off. Many bees do this if you get too close but usually calm down very quickly and carry on whatever they were doing.

C&C always appreciated.

Thanks Phill. Great work. In Australia the bottom Bee might be saying "B-----r off"

Thanks. He was definitely telling me where to go.

im assuming this wasn't able to be focus stacked this guy on top looks aggressive i like the stance of the lower one both have decent detail

I don’t do stacking, I am not a fan of the look as it somehow often looks wrong to me. I prefer to try and find a good angle on whatever beast I am shooting. Got a lot of learning to do but hopefully one day I will get there.

The top one was in a torpid state, but only about 7mm long so quite a struggle.

Yeah some methods aren't for everyone but as long as you keep learning and exploring new options..make mistakes and learn from those you'll grow and get to a point where you have a style you and I seem to be in the same boat and I'm having a blast learning it all
