Dora Artemiadi's picture

Another Era

Last June I visited Cornwall for the first time and I loved it! What an amazing place! Such a diversity! Beautiful beaches, dramatic seascapes, lovely fishing villages and deep forests.
This photo It is a composite of two captures . One long exposure for the sky and the sea and one for the land. I took it in Engine houses in Botallack.
This is one of my favorite photos. Not because it is the best one. I know it has a lot of mistakes. The old house is not well separated in the picture and the subject is not clear enough. As I was too cold I didn't took many shots and the focus is not good all over the picture.
Why is one of my favorites ? Because I was really affected by this place. I felt like walking into time. Like watching people's lives 100 years ago. I tried to put what I felt in this picture but I am not sure I made it.

It doesn't matter Dora if others by looking at your image can't feel what you felt.Everything you felt will come back every time you view the picture.Your description alone makes it a better image for me.

Thanks a lot! I just wish the photo from this place will be technically better.

Hello Dora,

First of all you have pretty beautiful image. It has nice mood and emotions and it's very important.
And as you said you have some little mistakes. The main is - foreground of the image looks a little bit flat... May be you it is possible to improve it using dodge and burn technique :)
And I think the vignetting is too much strong.

Thank you so much for your comment . I believe you are correct I have to try dodge and burning for the foreground. Regarding vignetting is not intentional . This is from the long exposure and the way the light and the clouds were captured . This is something I can easily correct .
