Sam Emerson's picture

Surf City

This is a little aerial shot I took over Huntington Beach a couple weeks back. Somewhat windy conditions, but otherwise a fun afternoon! I'm back in Seattle now, but missing that California sunshine already.

Happy New Year everyone!

Amazing job its absolutely stunning!!!!

thank you so much shia. I appreciate the kind words!

Beautiful Sam!!😀👍

hey thank you Jay! Means a lot!

nice shot but i would reduce the sat on the Yellow buildings looks good everywhere else as it makes a nice rainbow effect

thanks Joseph! Good suggestion, I think I agree just a touch less might be nice. I'll try it and see how it looks.

Its cool though as others have mentioned u should pull the yellow saturation from some elements, if not its just too much. I'd maybe even consider selectively pulling some of the yellow from the water thats closer to the shoreline to bring out some of the blues. Also the yellows on shoreline sand look way oversaturated as well as that house thats right off the shoreline

thank you for the thoughtful critique Francisco. I'll tinker with it a bit and see how it turns out. Cheers.

Please take purely as constructive criticism. Something I've noticed from a lot of drone shots (or landscape shots in general) is that they will have good leading lines, but there is no obvious subject that the lines are leading to. If you can get lines leading to a subject, it could make for a great landscape shot.

Always appreciate constructive criticism, Eric. I agree, would have been nice if there were something of interest along the horizon. Thanks!

I think as it is, the subject ends up being the bright patch of houses on the right side. The eye is attracted to bright, high saturation, and high detail things.
