Emil Gottschlag's picture

Sunset

Hello!
My name is Emil and come from Sweden! I am quite new to this whole photography thing, I bought my first DSLR about 4 months ago.
But I have always loved to take photos and create in various editing programs!

About the photo: An evening about a week ago I saw this beautiful sky forming above the town, so I grabbed my gear in a hurry and ran up to a hill not far from where I live and shot this image. (Nikon d5100, sigma 10-20mm)

Please give this photo your honest oppinion, and if you want to see my other photos, Follow me on instagram: @gottschlagphoto

Thanks!

Hi Emil,
What a great sky indeed. it looks to be a good image technically. On the composition side I want to see more sky and less foreground. The tree blocking the sky detracts as well.

Hi Emil. Similar thoughts to Michael. Perhaps you took several shots in portrait and Landscape mode.I think I would prefer a landscape composition for this shot. There are 2 really nice elements in the picture. The sky and the patterns on the rocks.I would try to take this scene emphasing one or the other. A bit difficult to combine both unless you had a drone with camera. Our eyes would see those rocks in a bit more detail as our eyes are cleverer than cameras.Enjoy your new hobby and camera. It's easy to become addicted to this.

I Agree with the others, as a quick remedy just try and crop half of the foreground for now and you will see what Michael and Geoff are talking about.
Don't give up you will improve with every shot all the best Barry

That sky looks amazing
