Saying hi and hoping for some constructive criticism please
Hi, I'm Paul. I've bought my DSLR about a year ago and I really love long exposure photography and have been shooting as much as I can. It would be great if I could receive some constructive criticism of my most recent image. Many thanks in advance!
Hi Paul,
First off....I really like this image. Congrats! I can't make out what this is. It is intriguing and draws me in. I'm a fan of the 4x5 format on vertical images. The subject balanced by all the negative white space works for me. The additional small dark subject on the right is a nice visual add to draw my eyes up into the negative space. Personally, I would have put a bit more space below the ring of main subject, and a bit less vignette on the lower corners.

Hi Michael,
Thanks! I believe the object used to be a footing or something for a long gone pier or jetty, I'm really not sure. I agree, I would have liked a bit more space as well but the tide was coming in really fast. The object was quite close to the shore line and would have been covered completely by the rising water plus I was getting a bit twitchy about how fast the tide was coming in (I didn't fancy getting swept out to sea much!). Now that you pointed it out, that bottom vignette is a bit much. Thanks again,
Paul
Great shot!! If you have fog or mist in a shot, you got me on board. :-) It reminded me of the movie "The Fog", when I first looked. Great open feel with the whitespace too.

I draw the line at getting wet myself :)

Thanks! That movie scared the bejesus out of me. I might watch it again tonight :)
