Arizona Sunrise, Badlands

A few years ago I was out in the desert in Arizona for a few days. It had rained almost all night, and my tent was covered in ice when I woke up. I thought I would go over to the brilliant fin in the distance to get the harsh light of the sun as it broke the horizon and gave brilliant light on it. When I came to this spot I realized there was something bigger going on, mainly because of the explosive looking sky. I was pleased - greatly pleased, when this transpired.

I used a Canon 6D with a Canon 17-40L lens. I made a number of exposures moving right to left and processing them in Photoshop.

BTW. Using your tripod accurately in these situations is essential. Using it wrong, or handholding your camera will probably result great, unrealistic distortions of image shapes.

Nice shot...you know living up in the NW in late springs when spring showers flow through, you get magnificent sunrises and sunsets after a long rain!

Thank you, we need rain. Lot's of rain! So freaking dry here.
