Autumn in Western Norway

One of the many perks of living up in the north, is that the golden hour happens at a much later hour this late in the year. Don't need to get up at some ungodly hour of the morning to catch the first rays of golden light. Boy do I love it.

A World Full of Painted Hills

I know there are spectacular "Rainbow Mountains" in China as well as "Painted Hills" in the Badlands of South Dakota. Turkey has some as well. But did you know there are also incredible Painted Hills in eastern Oregon? They are part of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. This image was taken in late afternoon close to sunset. The light...

From the True North

I've been reading fstoppers for a while, but have never posted anything here. I'm still going through my pics from this year, but I've uploaded a few for now.

I have been working my way east to west on my vacation time photographing lesser known Canadian landscapes. There will be more to come as I get through editing...

What's your favorite local landscape?

I think that most of us probably have at least one place in mind that we can go to for some landscape exploration and photographing. For me, in Southern Utah, that place is Zion National Park. I live about 45 minutes away from the park and so it is frequently a go-to spot for my weekend adventures.

I would love to hear from you. What are...

First serious landscape in a while

I shot a ton of landscape a long time ago, when I traveled more, had gotten away from it as life tied me down more. But recent inspiration from some outstanding photographers on Instagram moved me to get out and try some. I realize great landscape shots come from scouting locations and being out when others are eating dinner, watching TV, or...

On the Enoree

I spent the morning on the Enoree River testing different settings, shutter speeds, etc. At this point, the river is approximately 45-50 yards wide, and to get this particular shot I climbed across rocks to get the right spot.

Any suggestions on how to make this better?

Horseshoe Falls

Horseshoe Falls, near historic Musgrove Mill in Clinton, SC, is named after James "Horseshoe" Robertson. Robertson was a Revolutionary War Patriot that gathered information on the Loyalists' attack plans by hiding in a small cave at the falls. His information helped the outnumbered Patriots beat back the Loyalists at the Battle of Musgrove Mill...

Getting Sharp Images of Birds In Flight

Since I started posting images of soaring Andean condors and swooping eagles from my recent trip to Patagonia Chile and Argentina, a lot of people have asked me how it was that I got such sharp shots trying to follow a fast bird in flight.

If I had to sum up the answer in a nutshell, I'd say it in two words: animal behavior. Yes, of...
