Bride Texts During Wedding Ceremony

Bride Texts During Wedding Ceremony

Cell phones at weddings are getting really obnoxious. "Unplugged weddings" (where all cell phones are confiscated before the event) are becoming very popular these days. I've shot literally hundreds of weddings in my life and cell phones have always been a problem... with the guests. I've never seen this before though.

This is just sad that as a society, our self esteems are so low that a text message is more important than one of the most sacred events of your lifetime. If I was the preacher/minister, I would have stopped the ceremony right there to take the bride and groom to another area to question their true commitment.

Swen.Ardere avatar

LMAO, really? I think those two were completely uninterested in any of the hot air that preacher was spewing.

That is just rude. Most wedding ministers take the time to get to know the couples and provide a safe place for them to be themselves. The "hot air" he or she was "spewing" was most likely deeply personal. I agree with Scott that is speaks to the bride's self-esteem or bad habits.

Are you a Christian or does judgmentalism just come natural to you?

pointouttheobvious avatar

Umm, I think that you are the one being judgmental.

And yet that we see you here judging...hmmm...

Priceless!
...also, am I the only one noticing the very very appropriate "STOP" sign in the background?!? Ha, this is great!

I'm pretty sure they're in a Walmart parking lot.

Keepin' it classy.

"Yea I can talk now, just texting on this Sidekick from 2002. Some guy is going on about a magic creature that watches over my life, and my new husband is looking at me with shame and embarrassment, wondering what he got himself into. Yea, I'm at the wedding now. Ohh I found a chicken finger I put in my bra this morning. I wonder what else is in here. Ok I'll ttylomglolwtflgbtyn!!!"

Mark avatar

You're killing me :-). That was funny. Magic creatures...LOL

Still time for the guy to do a runner and save himself :)

Mark avatar

Yes, I think he was regretting the whole deal. Did you see his face?

But she must change his Facebook status to "married"! :D

She's just double checking with the wedding planner.. so they don't forget the cat for the bouquet toss.

OMG what?!!!

I got himself a real winner there.. The "STOP" sign was an omen he clearly missed seeing the finer details. Although she may have just been lining up her plate at the reception.. Her ass hits the seat, she wants food now.

Goodness, that is just so sad.

I had to watch it twice to make sure it showed what I thought it showed. WOW! let me say that backwards. . . WOW!!! Unbelievable. Very sad - I hope she see this.

Usually when an act is so obviously wrong, I rationalize. Rationalization is one of my favorite defense mechanisms. Here are the best I could come up with:

1. Her phone alarm was vibrating so she took it out and fumbled with the off button.
2. Her mom was on life-support and the call was from the doctor.
3. Her mom was on life-support and the call was from her mom.
4. They agreed to have a twitter wedding for family that couldn't make it. #AboutToSayIDo
5. She was checking to be sure her wedding vows were still accessible on the phone. Paper is so old-school.
6. She thought she'd memorized her vows but blanked on a few lines so she did a quick refresh. Reading is so old-school.
6. They're on an LA movie set.
There's gotta be an explanation...or our generation's in trouble.

Anyhoo, this is the vid that FStoppers should have shared (with comments from the original videographer):

Who would marry that?

miestradefotos avatar

Calm down. Don't be mean.

I've got to say that people who can't go two seconds without checking their phone kind of bugs me even more so when something important is going on.

Bruce Lee avatar

She's actually texting the lazy photographer who is already late to get his/her ass over here.

What do you expect for someone getting married at the corner of White and Trash.

I once had a bride listen to a football game with an ear phone during her wedding.
