Against the tide.

This photo story captures the everyday lives of fishermen on Kuakata beach, along Bangladesh's southern coastline. I joined there to document their unseen struggles as they prepared to set out at dusk . The fishermen was struggling with the waves. This journey marked their final opportunity to catch Hilsa — known locally as Ilish, the national fish of Bangladesh — before a government-imposed fishing ban took effect at midnight. The seasonal embargo aims to protect the Hilsa population, a vital staple in South Asia. Witnessing these resilient fishermen in action was an unforgettable experience through my lens.
